FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BUCKET RIDER GALLERY begins the 2008 schedule with Living Room Paintings, a group exhibition of new works, in Galleries One and Two.

Chicago, IL, February 1, 2008- Bucket Rider welcomes the start of the 2008 schedule with a curated exhibition of new paintings and painted works by gallery artists as well as artists shown here for the first time. Living Room Paintings will include new works by Anna Bjerger, Brian Bress, Keltie Ferris, Andreas Fischer, Andrew Guenther, Lester Monzon, Angel Otero and Christian Rieben. These works will be installed in both galleries. The show opens Friday, February 1st with an artist’s reception from 5 to 8 pm, and continues through Saturday, March 8th.

Living Room Paintings describes the notion that a work of art must visually operate in congruity to one’s decor and interior design. The exhibition has been playfully titled this way, as each work in the show is at odds with this notion. Some of the paintings are compositionally or formally complicated while others are thematically obstinate and require a kind of attention that disallows the viewer to let them slip into mere decoration.
